Illinois Family Law Reform Bills
The Illinois House of Representatives is currently considering two family law bills rewritten by the Illinois Family Law Study Committee, chaired by André Katz, firm principal.
House Bill 1452
Amendments to the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act of 1977 amends the original law through significant reforms, including quicker court action on divorce filings and important changes to the laws regarding child support. It also includes a provision that provides for both divorcing parents to make decisions involving the children, and allows for extended visits for the non-custodial parent.
House Bill 1243
Illinois Parentage Act of 2013 repeals older versions of that act and establishes new statutory guidelines and procedures for matters involving parent-child relationships.
